Karen Salmansohn
"Karen joked that she's a 'Psychological Detective.' Well, she's a definite Sherlock Holmes! She quickly discovered how I'd created limiting beliefs around speaking up and handling conflict, all because of the home I was raised in. I witnessed immediate improvements in my relationships and career."

What we can work on together
Not you-ier in life…
You say yes when you mean no.
You text "no worries!!" when there are, in fact, worries.
You share a bed with someone, but not your actual thoughts.
You feel like a guest in your own life.
Not you-ier at work…
You got really good at a life that wasn't really for you.
You're winning on paper, but something feels off.
You do your best speaking up in the shower, after the meeting.
Your Sunday night dread now starts Saturday afternoon.
DIFFERENT LIVES. SAME PROBLEM.
You've been performing a version of yourself that isn't really you.
Smiling through it. Softening it. Saving the real you for… later.
You might not have a burnout problem. You might have an authenticity problem.
Researchers call it "self-alienation": the longer you perform a version of yourself, the more your real self starts to feel like a stranger. It's been linked to depression, anxiety and that heavy, can't-name-it exhaustion.
Translation: faking it is expensive. You're paying with your energy, your relationships and your one life.
Now imagine…
Saying what you actually mean, with no guilt hangover afterward.
Work that feels like yours, not like a pile of shoulds and supposed-tos.
Finally having the conversation you've been postponing for years.
Getting your mojo back. The energy. The ideas. The nerve.
Feeling truly known by the people who matter most.
Waking up in a life you'd still pick if you got to pick again.
That's what you-ier feels like.
THE OFFER
1-on-1 You-ier Mindset Coaching
You and me, working together to find the real you, then build your life and work around it
How we make you you-ier
1. Blindspot spotting
What you can't see, because you're standing inside it.
We start with my "Am I Being You-ier?" Test: six audits that find your Gaps, the distance between the life you're living and the one you actually want. Including the Eulogy Audit and the Calendar Doesn't Lie Audit. (Spoiler: your calendar always tells the truth.)
2. Un-learn
The old programming that's been running your life.
We dig into the stories, habits and "shoulds" that got installed long ago, and figure out which ones are still serving you. (Hint: fewer than you think.)
3. Re-learn
New beliefs and habits, with me as your troubleshooter, cheerleader and accountability buddy.
You build a life around what's truly yours. I make sure "next week" doesn't quietly turn into next year.
Coaching packages of 3, 6 or 12 months.
What we can work on
In your life
Saying what you mean, and the conversations you've been avoiding
Toxic relationships, boundaries and repeating patterns
Big transitions: divorce, empty nest, loss, reinvention
Confidence and self-worth
Stress, burnout and the habits that come with them
At your work
Clarity on what's next: pivot, launch or level up
Goals that are actually yours
Speaking up and being heard. Say the thing out loud before someone else gets credit for it.
Procrastination, creative blocks and lost motivation
Leadership and communication
Coaching isn't a substitute for therapy or medical care.
WHY ME?
They used to call me "The Doer."
I started out as a CLIO-winning Creative Director at the biggest ad agencies in New York, and a Senior VP in my twenties. Then I got tired of inspiring people to try a new toothpaste. So I left to chase what I actually cared about: psychology and writing.
I researched and interviewed the world's top experts in psychology, neuroscience and resilience. Then I tested it all on my own life: bouncing back from my father's death, quitting binge eating, and breaking up with my habit of dating emotionally unhealthy men (I call them "Prince Harmings").
Somewhere along the way my colleagues nicknamed me "The Doer," because whenever I said I wanted to do something, I somehow got it done. Then people started asking me to coach them. So I do.

My books have been called…
“Self-help for people who wouldn't be caught dead doing self help.”
My methods come from 30 years of research, ancient wisdom (I have a platonic crush on Aristotle) and modern psychology. Delivered with a wink, because change goes down easier with a laugh.
Also, I have strong opinions about the correct number of pillows on a bed (many, don't fight me) and anyone who's "not really a coffee person" (suspicious).

Relax. You-ier isn't…
Being louder.
Being louder.
Being weird for the sake of being weird.
It's simpler than that. It's your values, your voice, your way of seeing the world, expressed without apology.
My mindset techniques are loved by…
Deepak Chopra · Goldie Hawn · Tony Robbins · Seth Godin · Arianna Huffington · Marie Forleo · Tim Ferriss · Gretchen Rubin · Tony Hsieh · Donna Karan · Marisa Tomei · Madonna

TWO OF THE TOP REGRETS OF THE DYING:
"I wish I had expressed myself more."
"I wish I had lived truer to myself."
Nobody on their deathbed wishes they'd been more boring and normal.
They wish they'd said the thing and taken the leap.
That's the data.
